Advisors’ Assembly UK 2025: Inside Fathom’s First UK Community Events

April 23, 2025

This spring, we brought Advisors’ Assembly to the UK for the very first time, with three exclusive events hosted in London, Manchester and Edinburgh. Designed for connection, collaboration, and honest conversation, each evening created space for accounting leaders to come together, talk candidly, and explore what’s next in advisory, and in Fathom.

This marks the next chapter of our community-led event series, following the inaugural Advisors’ Assembly, Australia in 2024. While the Australian series focused on day-time education and panel discussions, the UK edition took a more intimate, peer-led approach, built around meaningful conversation, real-world challenges, and an early look at Fathom Portfolio, our latest product innovation.

Three cities, one shared conversation

Across the three events held in London, Manchester and Edinburgh we welcomed attendees from 33 different firms. Each location had its own distinct vibe.

The goal was simple: to bring together smart people doing great work, and give them the space to learn from each other, and from us. Each evening included a hands-on, in-product walkthrough of Fathom Portfolio; our new tool to help firms monitor, measure, and engage their full client base.

What we heard

Across all three cities, common challenges kept coming up — no matter the firm size or structure. This made one thing clear: many of the blockers' firms face are shared, and it’s in conversation that clarity (and solutions) emerges.

  1. Advisory: Still misunderstood by junior staff

One topic came up again and again: junior team members aren’t leaning into advisory. And it’s not about capability — it’s mindset, motivation, and clarity.

Many juniors still see advisory as “extra work” rather than career development. There’s a lack of visibility into what advisory looks like in practice, and few structured pathways to help them build confidence.

    Firms are now asking:
    • How do we make advisory feel less ambiguous and more accessible?
    • What happens if we don’t?
    • Can we connect advisory to clear incentives, mentorship, and career growth?
  2. From compliance to conversation

When asked where they spend most of their time, firms pointed to compliance-heavy work: consolidation, reporting, and cash flow. But when asked where they want to spend more time on:
The challenge is less about willingness, and more about capacity. That’s why Portfolio resonated. It wasn’t just seen as another tool, it was a step towards freeing up the headspace for higher-value work.
    • forecasting,
    • analysis, and
    • strategic conversations with clients.

An exclusive look at why we built Fathom Portfolio

In London, attendees were given an early preview of Portfolio, seeing it before any other region. Whilst, in Manchester and Edinburgh, the demo focused on the why behind Portfolio, the problems it’s built to solve and the outcomes it’s designed to drive.

Antoni Gomez (Product Strategy & Research Lead) led sessions in London and Edinburgh, while Shivani Chheda (Senior Account Manager) took the reins for the Manchester discussion. Each presentation was followed by lively conversation, with customers leaning in, challenging ideas, and seeing real potential in what’s ahead.

“It’s the exact product we’ve been waiting for.”
“You’ve built what we’ve been trying to patch together for years.”

The Portfolio sessions didn’t just generate excitement, they sparked dialogue, uncovering new use cases, priorities, and ideas for what comes next.

What’s next for Portfolio

These events weren’t just about unveiling a new feature; they were about pressure-testing a new way for firms to connect and work together.

The conversations in London, Manchester and Edinburgh made one thing clear: firms are looking for tools that help them spot opportunity across their client base, act early, and delegate effectively. That’s what Fathom Portfolio is built for.

We’re already developing new functionality based on the feedback shared; from smarter filtering to sharper engagement workflows, to ways to make advisory feel more actionable across the team.

Whether you're leading client strategy or supporting junior staff to step into advisory, Portfolio is designed to help you do it with clarity and confidence.

A special thanks to the 45+ attendees who joined us, shared openly, and helped shape what’s next. And to The Moniker, MAYA, and The Alchemist for providing the perfect spaces for real conversations.

This series is about more than showcasing what we’ve built. It’s about listening, learning, and making sure Fathom continues to grow alongside the firms who use it.
